Cheng Kwok Yau v The King

With reference to our letter of the 1st inst.

we have had an intimation from the representative of the

Privy Council over the telephone this morning that the applica-

tion for leave to appeal in this matter will not be heard

this week, but nothing definite is stated.

we had a printed acknowledgment of our letter

of the 1st inst. from the Colonial Office but have not heard

further.

Having regard to the fact that the sentence has

been respited to the 14th inst, we would respectfully suggest that a communication should be sent to the Governor of Hong Kong

immediately suggesting the sentence should be respited for such further period as the Colonial office may think reasonable.

we should be greatly obliged if you would kindly

let us know by bearer if this can be carried out at once.

Your obedient servants

Gibsonowelson
